On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi raised the national flag for the 11th time at Delhi’s Red Fort. Despite slight drizzles and cloudy skies, everything was neat throughout the great event. The PM received a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ from Punjab Regiment military band which plays during the National Anthem as it commences events.
Modi took to his favourite social media platform X post-independence day event, where he posted, “Happy independence day to all my fellow Indians kabi kabhi” in festive spirit.Jai Hind!" When Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Red Fort, he was greeted cordially by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries. The Defense Secretary helped to introduce key military troops who will play important roles in the day's events.
After the flag raising ceremony, PM Modi assessed the Guard of Honor which is made up of Indian forces such as Indian Army, Navy, Air Force as well as Delhi Police personnel. The officers leading this guard were Major Arjun Singh and Squadron Leader Akshara Uniyal among others.This year's event saw the Indian Navy coordinating the proceedings, highlighting the unity of the Armed Forces.
In a bid to enhance public participation, nearly 6,000 special guests were invited to witness the celebration at Red Fort. This gathering displayed a common sense of satisfaction and loyalty to the country, as it was attended by army generals, ministers, and inhabitants who unitedly celebrated 78 years of freedom under one flag belonging to India.
Political parties should accept this shift according to PM Modi’s vision concerning “one nation and one election”.e pointed out how frequent elections hinder national progress, tying every initiative to electoral outcomes. From the Red Fort, with the Tricolour as witness, he called for unity in ensuring India’s steady and continuous growth.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also addressed the importance of a secular civil code, urging the need to move away from communal civil codes. This, he said, would ensure national unity and equality for all citizens. His call for a uniform code highlighted his vision for an inclusive and progressive India.
